The Flat 1940
Title: The Flat 1940
Artist: Barbara Scalia
Original: acrylic on canvas
2005 $1,600 (Inquire as to availability)
A self-portrait of Barbara at
her grandfather's flat in 1940. He kept bourbon for the in-laws to serve only
at Christmas. Scalia started stealing booze at an early age and adding water
to the bottle to cover her tracks. No one ever noticed that the bourbon grew
weaker. This painting portrays a pensive Scalia getting ready to sneak a
drink, perhaps being caught in the act.
