My philosophy is: do not paint with the reaction of
your audience in mind, paint as if there will never be an audience. I believe
that only by staying true to this philosophy, can I produce paintings that are
truly expressive and worthy of an audience.
My earliest memories are of
painting and drawing pictures. I suppose I am a "self-taught" artist, but I'm
not sure I did teach myself. Painting is just something I have always done.
I am a native of Pensacola,
Florida, a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and a
graduate of LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. I currently practice
dentistry in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Living in New Orleans for many
years, the birthplace of jazz and Louis Armstrong, I became fascinated with
jazz and jazz musicians. No two jazz trumpet players, even when playing the
same notes, will create the same solo. Great jazz music depends on the pure
expression of the individual musician, just as a great painting depends on the
pure expression of the individual painter.
It is my interest in jazz and my
desire to express that interest through paintings, that has lead to the
creation of the pictures you see in this gallery.
