Eric Nabatoff is the second generation of an artistic
family. He is the son of noted Abstract Pastel Master, Paul Nabatoff. Immersed
in the art process by age five, the young Eric used paints, drawing materials
and modeling clay to create art that was a natural learning progression in his
education.
Through his school years, he
designed stage sets for musical and dramatic productions. By the age of twelve
he was assisting his father in the carving of large woodblock prints. Eric's
formal study of abstract geometric painting began under his father's
instruction. He studied fine drawing with his mother, also a noted artist,
Vivian Bojum Nabatoff. He later studied with painter Frank Sampson at the
University of Colorado, Boulder. Entering the University of Denver in 1979,
Eric studied art and art history.
His focus was drawing, painting,
sculpture and engraving, including classes in anatomy and art history, where
he absorbed the works of past and present masters. Eric works in alabaster,
soapstone, limestone, onyx, and marble. The raw stone can take months, in some
cases years, to chisel into his envisioned form. All buffing, polishing and
finishing work is completed by the artist.
While we currently offer only
original pieces of Mr. Nabatoff's sculpture, if you are interested in a bronze
reproduction, please contact us. We offer a collection of stunning abstract
pastels from Mr. Nabatoff's private collection.
