Tom Draper is a native North Carolinian who resides in Greensboro with his family. He inherited his artistic ability from his father who had his own sign painting business in Greensboro. Tom received his B.S in Landscape Horticulture for North Carolina State University in 1980.

Tom began painting watercolors in the early 1980s, but set his brushes aside to grow his landscape company and raise a family. He painted only a limited number of paintings until the last few years. He recently sold his successful landscape company and garden center in order to devote all of his time and efforts to watercolor painting.

Tom paints scenes from his native North Carolina, primarily the Outer Banks. J. Harold Smith carries both original watercolors and giclee prints of Tom's paintings.
