A native of eastern North Carolina, Ivey Hayes
received his BA degree from North Carolina Central University. He went on to
study at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and obtained his
Masters in Fine Art at the University Of North Carolina, Greensboro, in 1975.
Ivey developed his unique style
by drawing upon his personal experiences. His use of bright colors to express
feeling and emotion makes each of his pieces come to life with its own
distinct personality. Owning an Ivey Hayes original or giclee is a true joy
for his many followers. Ivey's popularity continues to grow. He has won
numerous awards for his work including the Presidential and Celebrity awards
at the North Carolina Azalea Festival Master Arts Exhibit held in Wilmington,
NC. His artwork has been shown on the Charlie Rose Show, at the US Capitol
Rotunda in Washington, D.C., and at various galleries and exhibitions
throughout the United States.
He created the artwork for the
First Annual North Carolina Blueberry Festival, available here as a Limited
Edition giclee on canvas. Ivey Hayes has been selected to create the art for
the 2005 North Carolina Azalea Festival held annually in Wilmington, North
Carolina. A major one-man show is planned for 2005 at the Louise Wells Cameron
Art Museum in Wilmington, NC.
Ivey Hayes is considered by many
as a master of Southern Nouveau style and a national treasure.
