What
is a Giclée?
Why
it is Becoming the Preferred Choice
for
Reproducing Artwork
The
word Giclée (pronounced zhee-clay) is a French word meaning “to spray.” This
process was developed in 1989 as a way to reproduce fine art without the use
of printing plates. Over the last few years the process has been perfected,
and the inks have been developed to reproduce art in fine detail and brilliant
colors. Digital imaging technology coupled with archival inks and materials
and Giclée printing have redefined how original artwork is reproduced. Many
museums throughout the world are substituting Giclée prints where the original
artwork is too fragile for public display and many proudly display Giclées as
part of their collections. The Limited Edition Giclées we offer are very
affordable and each comes with a Certificate of Authenticity identifying its
Edition Number.
Whether
reproduced on canvas or paper, Giclées offer many benefits:
·
Archival Inks offering lasting color
·
Superior reproduction quality
·
Millions of possible colors
·
Incredible detail down to the brushstrokes
·
Will not fade over time
·
Costs far less than the original
·
Can easily be replaced if damaged
